Find repair information on the second generation Toyota Tacoma.

Why does my Air Conditioner only work on High?

My air conditioner works perfectly only on the highest setting, and whenever I switch to a lower setting, the AC either just turns off, or switches on and off on those settings.

Hi @david26186

What year is the vehicle?

usually the problem you describe is caused by a faulty blower resistor module.

What happens is there are several resistors in the module that are used to control the various speeds of the blower and when they fail it only works on high speed because there is no resistor used in the high speed circuit for the blower.

If you search online for (insert year) Tacoma blower resistor you'll find suppliers for the part. (examples only)

If you search YouTube for Tacoma blower resistor there may be videos showing how to replace it. (examples only - hopefully your year model is also there)

Thank you very much, I managed to find the problem thanks to you. The resistor was indeed the problem, I have just yet to get the new part. Apologizes for the extremely late response.
